Eastern Coalfields Limited is a coal producer based in India. The company was founded in 1975 after the nationalization of coal mines in India. It inherited all the private sector coal mines of the Raniganj coalfield. It is a Government of India undertaking company and one of the subsidiaries of Coal India Limited.

One of the main phases of coal production is transportation. Therefore, to carry out this crucial responsibility SIFSL was entrusted with the task of coal transportation. Coal can be transported from mines and processing plants to consumers in several different ways:

• Conveyors
• Trams
• Trucks
• Trains
• Slurry pipelines
• Ships in case of overseas import & export

Coal transportation by truck might seem unconventional, but there are actually many situations in which coal would need to be transported on a truck instead of a railcar. After all, trains and cargo ships can’t go everywhere, so if you need to ship coal to a retailer or packaging plant that isn’t close to a railroad or port, then you’re going to need to utilize freight trucks to get it there. SIFSL has all the expertise needed to transport coal from the mines to the warehouses and distribution centers. Not only do we offer expedited ground transportation but also do so following all safety standards.
